THE WEATHER AT HOME. A LIVING-ROOM BALLET

Who are you? Who are you, really? What do you do? What are you doing here? Why here? Why now? Why Germany? Why Ludwigsburg? Why don’t you have a Russian accent? Why does it sound more like a Hebrew accent? Your pronunciation is really good. Did you move here alone? Where is your family? Why don’t they simply move away too? How do you feel about that? How are you? I’m asking you. But you don’t have to answer. If you don’t want to. --- THE WEATHER AT HOME. A LIVING-ROOM BALLET is a biographical project about exile, identity and queerness – an intimate stage space between memory, movement, language and the question of what “home” can mean when the place itself has been set in motion.

Aleksandr Kapeliush is a theatre director and performer. Born in St Petersburg in 1999, he studied directing at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, GITIS, in Moscow. When the war in Ukraine began, he left Russia, moving first to Tel Aviv and later to Germany, where he continued his directing studies at the Academy of Performing Arts Baden-Württemberg (ADK). Kapeliush created the production as part of his directing course at the ADK.
