Gefilte Fest Dresden 2023

The Gefilte Fest Dresden is now not only an integral part of the Jewish Music and Theatre Week Dresden, but also part of the city’s annual calendar.

On this year’s theme “Women in Judaism – From Eve to Amy” we were able to find a whole series of lecturers who introduce us to various recipes from Jewish cuisine in a simple way.

These include Hemdat Goldberg (chef, scientist and journalist from Jerusalem), Yonit Naftali (Head Editor of Foodish at the Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv) and Itta Werdiger (chef, lecturer and food blogger from New York).

If you want to get to know Jewish cuisine up close and practically and want to get not only recipes but also stories and answers to your own burning questions, you’ve come to the right place. There will be at least 12 workshops (12:30 to 18:00, 60 minutes each, estimated number of participants: approx. 15) in which you can and should lend a hand.

And of course there is plenty of opportunity to taste the food and get to know nice people. Children are welcome.

At 5:00 p.m., the panel discussion “From Eve to Amy” – Women in Judaism will take place under the charming and expert moderation of Danielle Kohen. For this purpose, we were able to recruit five very different women who are Jewish or can report very competently on women in Judaism.

In addition to the above-mentioned guests, these are Dr. Nora Pester (publisher, Hentrich & Hentrich) and Eliana Jacobs-Pliskin (acrobat, musician, performance) from Leipzig. With these guests, the most diverse Jewish cultures, traditions and approaches are represented and we look forward to a dazzling diversity that does justice to today’s reality of Jewish women’s lives.
