The Jewish community is facing various problems, challenges, and questions that are increasingly becoming more acute. Antisemitism, declining membership numbers in established communities, war in Ukraine, war in Israel. Where does the Jewish community stand, and how does the younger generation position themselves regarding today’s issues and dangers?
Speaker:
Dr. Anastassia Pletoukhina – Director of the Jewish Agency Berlin and author of the book “Doing Judaism.”
She is a social scientist and Jewish activist. In 2023, her book “Doing Judaism” was published, based on her doctoral study on the engagement of young Jews in Germany. She is, among other roles, the director of the Nevatim Program at the Jewish Agency for Israel and serves as chair of the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk, residing in Berlin. She is a survivor of the attack on the synagogue in Halle on October 9, 2019.
