Mischpokhe Day in cooperation with the TJG Dresden “Laughing together”

Mishpokhe (Mishpoche) is Yiddish and means “family”. On this day it is time to collect grandpa, grandma and parents and visit us with a good portion of curiosity and a good mood!

Together with the Theater Junge Generationen we would like to make you laugh and introduce the funny sides of Jewish culture. Come by and look forward to a great afternoon:

“Laughing together”

There will be various stands in the foyer of the theatre with youth-friendly workshops (15-30 minutes each). e.g.:

  • Challah baking workshop with Gefilte Fest e.V.
The delicious fluffy challah is a simple yeast bread with great symbolic meaning. It is prepared every Friday (Shabbat) and stands not only for Jewish religiosity but also for Jewish culture and identity. (without lactose, without corn, without nuts, parwe, vegetarian)

  • Children’s book exhibition on Jewish life by Hatikva e.V.

The title of the exhibition “What is that on your head?” is intended to arouse curiosity. This innocent question forms a relaxed and humorous introduction to an exhibition that is dialogical through speech bubbles. The children can put themselves in the role of the voice from the off who asks the questions. This invites them to ask questions themselves and to stimulate a dialogue about Jewish culture and the characters in the books.
  • Yiddish dances with Yeva Lapsker
Every culture throughout history has expressed its joy through movement, and Eastern European Jews are no exception. Yeva Lapsker, one of the best experts in Yiddish dance and one of the founders of Shtetl Berlin, will give a workshop for young and old. She will be accompanied by the internationally acclaimed klezmer accordionist Sanne Möricke.
  • Singing workshop with Youkali
Marie, Tatjana, Laura and Elena are passionate music teachers (HfM Dresden) in addition to their work in the band Youkali and will show you what you can do with your voice.
  • 11:00 Concert with Youkali
Defiant, quiet, tender – the Dresden musicians immerse themselves in the poetry of another time with their cheerful and melancholic compositions. A concert for big and small children.
