Open divine service

Kabbalat Shabbat is a part of friday night worship and is traditionally prayed at sunset. After a week of work, Shabbat allows you to recover from all the efforts of the week. We let our daily work rest and celebrate with our families and friends.

In the divine service, six psalms are prayed based on the six days of creation. This is followed by the 16th-century hymn Lecha Dodi, which greets Shabbat with the same joy as a groom looks forward to his bride. During the last stanza, we turn west to the entrance to symbolically receive the Entering Shabbat Bride. This is followed by the evening prayer and the Kiddush (blessing over the wine).
