Special Shabbat – Jewish Dinner 2023

Sensually discover the Jewish holiday with our course menu & cultural program.

For the 7th time, the Gefilte Fest Dresden e.V. invites you to the special Shabbat! And like every year, some things remain the same and some things become surprisingly new. We were again able to win the great team from Kahnaletto – the restaurant on the theatre barge on the terrace bank as a venue and are very grateful for that.

We invite all interested parties to join us in celebrating Shabbat and to learn about some of the customs and traditions of Judaism. Previous knowledge is not necessary! Children are welcome (we recommend from the age of 12 years).

Our physical well-being is taken care of by the chefs Hemdat Goldberg from Jerusalem and Yonit Naftali from Tel Aviv, who travel to Dresden especially to conjure up their Shabbat specialties for us.

Several Jewish “ambassadors” will share anecdotes from their experience of Shabbat and food, giving us a family insight into the celebration of Shabbat in different countries and traditions. We are looking forward to new and familiar faces, a family atmosphere and Shabbat joy.

The event is open to all people with an interest in Judaism and good food.
Experience has shown that tickets are sold out relatively quickly.

Award-winning top chef Hemdat Goldberg is part of Chefs for Peace – a non-profit organization founded in November 2001 in the Holy City of Jerusalem by a group of Jewish, Christian and Muslim chefs dedicated to exploring cultural identity, diversity and coexistence through food.

Yonit Naftali is editor-in-chief of Foodish – ANU’s food culture magazine – Museum of the Jewish People
