It will be played again! Our wild ride through this evening is accompanied by the great band She’Koyokh and dance master Andreas Schmitges.

She’Koyokh (UK, TÜR, SRB) is a brilliant seven-piece London ensemble that will inspire us with their virtuoso skills and incredibly versatile music! Their name, an enchanting Yiddish word for “finely made,” suits them perfectly, as they are, according to The Guardian, “undoubtedly one of the absolute best and most captivating exponents of British world music.”

Over two decades, She’Koyokh have absorbed the rich musical traditions of Jewish Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Balkans and fused them into a grandiose experience!

Their live performances are nothing short of breathtaking. A raging storm of clarinet, violin, jazzy guitar riffs, accordion and pulsating percussion. A symphonic fusion that shows us the dance steps this evening, accompanied by the delightful and passionate voice of Çigdem Aslan.

Andreas Schmitges is a musician himself. He is fluent in Yiddish and deals with the connection between language, music and dance in an intercultural context. As a dance master, he will show how to dance the jiddish dances and make all head-nodders and foot-rockers nimble legs.
